Terms of service

Tonight is a subscription app that helps a household decide what to cook for dinner. In these terms, "Tonight", "we", "us" and "our" mean the people and business that run Tonight, and "you" means the person using it.

The legal name and registered address of the company that operates Tonight are not final yet. We will publish them in this section before paid launch, and we will update the date at the top of this page when we do.

Tonight is available today as a web app at app.tonightdinner.app. An iPhone app is coming to the App Store, and an Android app is planned for later. Our marketing website is tonightdinner.app. These terms cover all of them, and we call them together "the service".

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Tonight.

Please read these terms together with our Refund policy and our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

When you buy through Paddle or Apple, their terms also apply to that purchase. We explain how below.

One subscription covers one household. Your household is the group of people you cook for and add to your account.

The account holder is the person who creates the account and manages the household. The account holder must be an adult, 18 or older. Children can be part of a household as members the adult adds, but a child cannot hold an account.

When you add a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, or that you otherwise have the right to add their details.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your sign-in details private. If you think someone else has gotten in, tell us right away at support@tonightdinner.app.

Please give us accurate information, especially the allergies, intolerances, diets and religious rules you enter. Tonight's recommendations depend on it.

There is one subscription per household, and you can pay $17.99 per month or $129.99 per year. Prices are in US dollars. Depending on where you live, taxes may apply.

New households get a 7-day free trial with full access to Tonight.

When a trial or a subscription ends, a free tier remains. It includes 100 rotating recipes and a preview of the daily pick. It does not include everything a paid plan does.

If we ever change our prices, we will tell you before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first. A price change will not apply to a period you have already paid for.

Where you buy decides who handles the payment. On the web, purchases are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. Paddle's own buyer terms also apply to the transaction.

On iPhone, purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically, month by month or year by year, until you cancel.

To cancel on iPhone, use your subscription settings in the App Store. To cancel on the web, use the billing page in the Tonight app. If you subscribed on the web, cancel on the web. If you subscribed through the App Store, cancel through Apple.

Canceling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and then you move to the free tier.

If you cancel during your free trial, you are not charged.

Our Refund policy explains this in full. In short, Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases under Apple's rules, and we can't issue those refunds ourselves. For web purchases through Paddle, if you contact us within 14 days of a charge, we refund that charge in full.

Nothing in our Refund policy affects the rights you have under the law where you live.

Tonight checks recipes against the allergies, intolerances, diets and religious rules your household enters. It uses fixed, deterministic rules, and it errs on the side of caution. That means it may leave out a recipe that would have been fine for you.

No tool can promise perfect results. We compile our ingredient allergen data with care, but it can be incomplete, and real products and recipes vary between brands and places. A recipe that looks safe in Tonight can still contain something that affects you.

Tonight is a planning tool. It is not medical, dietary or nutritional advice, and it does not replace a doctor, dietitian or allergy specialist.

Always check the labels on the products you buy, and use your own judgment, especially if anyone in your household has a severe allergy. If you are not sure something is safe to eat, don't eat it, and ask a qualified professional.

You are responsible for entering your household's allergies, diets and rules correctly and keeping them up to date. If you spot a mistake in a recipe or an ingredient, please tell us at support@tonightdinner.app.

Some features use third-party AI providers. These are reading receipt photos and writing the plain-words reason for a dish.

Nothing is sent to an AI provider for these features until you give your consent in the app, and you can turn it off there at any time.

AI never makes safety decisions. Whether a recipe fits your household's allergies, diets and religious rules is decided by fixed rules in Tonight, not by an AI.

AI-generated text can be wrong. Check it before you rely on it, especially anything about ingredients, allergens or food safety. The reasons and suggestions it writes are not professional advice.

You may give us receipt photos, household details, notes and other content. It stays yours, and we don't claim ownership of it.

You give us a license to use your content only to run and improve the service for you.

We store receipt photos privately.

You are responsible for your content. Please only add things you have the right to use.

You can export your data or delete your account in settings at any time. If you have a subscription, cancel it first so you are not charged again.

The recipes in Tonight are written for Tonight and reviewed by a person. The dish images are illustrations, so your finished dish may look different.

Tonight, including its recipes, images, software and design, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes in your household.

You may not scrape it, copy it in bulk, resell it or republish it.

Please use Tonight the way it is meant to be used. You agree not to misuse it. In particular:

Don't use Tonight for anything unlawful or to harm other people.

Don't use bots, crawlers or other automated tools to scrape Tonight's content or data.

Don't reverse engineer, decompile or take apart our software, except where the law does not allow us to prohibit it.

Don't try to break, overload or get around the security of Tonight, or to reach another household's information.

Don't share your account with people outside your household.

You can stop using Tonight at any time. You can cancel your subscription and delete your account in settings.

We may suspend or close an account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your use puts other people or the service at risk, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first.

The parts of these terms that are meant to continue after your account ends, such as those about ownership and liability, will continue.

We work to keep Tonight running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, free of errors or right for every need. Tonight is provided "as is" and "as available".

Recipes, allergen data and AI-generated text can contain mistakes. Please read the food safety section above.

We may change, add or remove features from time to time. Parts of Tonight may also be unavailable during maintenance or because of things outside our control, including problems with services we rely on, such as Paddle, Apple or AI providers.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, savings or data.

Also subject to that, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Tonight is limited to the amount you paid us for Tonight in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law where you live, including consumer protection rights that cannot be waived or changed by an agreement.

If part of these terms conflicts with a right you have under local law, the law wins, and the rest of the terms still apply.

Depending on where you live, your rights may include rights about canceling a purchase, receiving digital services as described, and getting a remedy if something goes wrong. We can't list every place's rules here, and we are not asking you to give any of them up.

We may update these terms, for example when we add features, change how we charge, or when the law changes. We change the date at the top of this page whenever we do.

If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Small changes, like fixing a typo, take effect when we post them.

If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before it takes effect. If you keep using Tonight after that, we will treat it as your agreement to the new terms.
