Ingredients

  • Ground beef, divided into 4 equal portions1.1 lb
  • White rice1.4 cups
  • Shiitake mushroom, stemmed and sliced6 oz
  • Egg1 large
  • Panko breadcrumb0.5 cup
  • Garlic, minced3 cloves
  • Soy sauce3 tbsp
  • Gochujang1 tbsp
  • Sesame oil2 tsp
  • Scallion, thinly sliced2 stalks

    Prep the mushrooms

    On a cutting board, remove the mushroom stems and slice the caps, mince the garlic, and thinly slice the scallion.

    Cook the rice

    Put the white rice and 470 ml water in a covered medium saucepan and simmer over low heat.

    Shape the patties

    In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, panko breadcrumb, garlic, and 1 tbsp soy sauce; shape into four even patties.

    Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties, turning once.
